Boxing: Deontay Wilder blasts out Malik Scott in one round

Monday, 17 March 2014  |  Carl

DEONTAY WILDER continued his knockout streak when he pummelled fringe contender Malik Scott in 96 seconds. The victory, that improves his record to 31-0 (31), puts him in line to face the winner of the vacant WBC heavyweight reamtch between Bermane Stiverne and Chris Arreola.

Scott, 36-2-1 (13), was expected to give his old friend Wilder a test, but his high guard collapsed under Wilder's thunder. The unbeaten Bronze Bomber fired a left-right that did not seem to land flush but its power was enough to send Scott down and out.

Stiverne and Arreola meet on May 10.
