UK-based promotion The Main Event have announced details regarding their forthcoming stadium show. The event will take place May 23rd at the Barclaycard Arena in Birmingham and will feature the best talent the UK Muay Thai scene has to offer.

For those not too familiar with the promotion, The Main Event originally operated under the name Rumble at the Reebok, hosting events at the Reebok stadium in Bolton, Manchester. Unfortunately, as their popularity increased the venue became unsuitable and they were forced to move out and re-brand. The Main Event has the current attendance record for a Muay Thai event in the UK, pulling in over 3100 spectators for their event last summer.

The likes of Liam Harrison, Andrew Tate and Tim Thomas have all competed under The Main Event banner however the promotions focus is not just on already established fighters, with top UK prospects such as Andrew Lofthouse, Myk Estlick and the Sugden brothers having all competed for the promotion on numerous occasions.

Co-promoter Phil Shedden had this to say regarding the upcoming event 'This show will be like nothing ever seen before in the UK. We're pulling out all the stops to try and finally get the sport we love into the wider public eye for everyone's benefit. 2015 will be a pivotal year for The Main Event and Muay Thai in the UK!'

Whilst it's still over four months away it's hard to not be excited about an event of this potential. The likes of The Main Event and Yokkao have been working tirelessly to boost the sports popularity in the UK and with fight cards like this and with Yokkao hosting another double-header in March, it's hard not to envision Muay Thai finally gaining the attention it rightly deserves here in the UK.

We'll continue to update you with match-ups as they're unveiled.
