Muaythai Mania's latest event, Muaythai Mania 8: Hungary vs Lithuania was another successful one with a sold out venue at Szentendre, Hungary. Fans showed up from both Hungary and Lithuania to support their respective fighters and even the Lithuanian Ambassador appeared to show support for the Lithuanian team.
The event opened with an exhibition junior match followed by four fights featuring Hungarian and Lithuanian fighters as well as the WMC Professional fight between the two Hungarian stars, Péter Albrecht from Szentendre's local Gym (Szentendre VSE) and Róbert Radics from Simon Gym.
The first bout was a female fight in the 61.24kg division, between Alexandra Kovács (Hungary) and Vaida Masiokaite (Lithuania). Both fighters put on a strong performance and after a close 3 rounds it was Kovács who get her hand raised in a split decision. According to Alexandra she had some struggles due to the weight difference as Masiokaite weighed in right on point while she was a few pounds below the limit. The rematch fights are scheduled to take place in Vilnius somewhere at the end of 2015 but there's no exact date set as of now.
Next up was local fan favorit Milán Kisfalvi colliding with Ovidijus Jurginas in the 82.55 kg division. This was the Lithuanian fighter’s professional debut and he had his hands full with the experienced Kisfalvi. After a though battle Kisfalvi took the UD.
The third bout seen the 2014 amateur Muay Thai champion of Hungary Dominik Bereczki against IFMA 2014 junior silver medalist Martynas Jasiunas in 72.58 kg. After a very technical and highly entertaining fight where both athletes showed excellent skills and heart it was the Lithuanian who took the decision and improved the Lithuanian team's scores to 2:1.
It was time for Hungarian Dezső Bakacs to step in the ring against Ernestas Dapkus in a fight which ended up to be probably the toughest battle of the evening. After an extremely hard back and forth battle it was Ernestas Dapkus from Lithuania who got the judges decision making the two team's go head to head (2:2) and raising the stakes for the next fight.
Next up was the deciding fight between two heavyweight athletes László Lapusnyik (Hungary) and Mantas Rimdeika (Lithuania). The fight was a really intense one from the beginning and when Manta stopped Lapusnyik in the first the fans came to their feet.
And there was still one battle left! The main event of the evening was up in the 66.69kg WMC Professional division. The local favorite Péter Albrecht (Szentendre VSE), 2014 Hungarian amateur champion vs Róbert Radics (Simon Gym), also a 2x Hungarian muay thai champion. After a hard back and forth battle where Albrecht utilized his strong clinch game and Radics employing his reach, it was Radics who managed to take the decision in this highly entertaining bout.
As mentioned above the next round of events will be scheduled to take place in Vilnius end of 2015, which everyone will be looking forward to! The event will be televised by local TV network, SportKlub so all fans who missed the event or couldn't be there at the time of the show can catch up with the action.
